About Prjónagleðin: 9th Annual Iceland Knit Fest

Blönduós is a small town located in the north of Iceland, in the Húnabyggð district. Founded in the 19th century, it currently has a population of 866. Situated at the mouth of the glacial river Blanda, on Route 1, Blönduós offers easy access to the natural island of Hrútey, which can be reached via a pedestrian bridge just off the main route. The town merged with Húnavatnshreppur in 2022, forming the district of Húnabyggð. Blönduós maintains twin town links with four different cities and has an official website accessible at www.blonduos.is.
