About Crane & Sheep Festival
Faro is a city located in the heart of the Yukon, Canada, and was the birthplace of the Faro mine, which was the largest open-pit lead-zinc mine in the world. Although the mine was abandoned in 1998 due to declining metal prices, Faro’s population has significantly decreased since its peak of 1,652 inhabitants in 1981, stabilizing at 440 inhabitants in 2021. The mine site is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
